Downing Street has launched an online version of prime minister’s questions on Youtube.

Gordon Brown has pledged to respond to questions submitted by users on Downing Street’s Youtube page.

The forum is to be a ‘regular event’, in which he will offer answers on questions such as globalisation, climate change, housing, jobs and social services.

The first deadline for video submissions is June 21st, you can find out more about submitting your own question, and view questions already submitted by clicking here.

In an introductory video, Gordon Brown explains: “Politicians get a chance in prime ministers question time and other question times - I think it’s time the public had a chance.”

If he sticks to his promises and makes this a regular forum in which he really does answer the questions of the public then this is a great idea.

I’ve personally been arguing for more ways in which the public can have some kind of say in what goes on in Downing Street, and this seems like an excellent way to start.
