Juress Kika, 18, Michael Alleyne, 18 and Jade Braithwaite, 19, appeared in Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court. All three have been remanded in custody until their next appearance at the Old Bailey on 13 October.
Ben Kinsella was stabbed to death in York Way, Holloway, on Sunday.
On Tuesday, around 400 protesters spontaneously marched from Upper Street, Islington, to the spot where Kinsella died, to demand an end to knife crime.
Ben’s mother Deborah, father George and sister Jade were present in court, kept seperate from more than 15 friends and relatives of the three defendants who were also present.
Ben was the 17th teenager to be killed in London this year.
Mr Kika and Mr Alleyne were arrested late on Monday night at an address in the Chadwell Heath area of east London, while Mr Braithwaite was arrested in Bethnal Green, also east London, on Tuesday.
A fourth man, aged 18, who was also arrested in Islington on Monday has been bailed to return to a London police station in mid-August pending further inquiries.
No applications for bail were made on behalf of any of the three defendants. The judge ruled their addresses should not be released because of fears of reprisal attacks against their families.
Since Kinsella’s death, another teenager has become the 18th to be killed in London this year.
16-year-old Shakilus Townsend was stabbed to death yesterday, after being lured down an alleyway and attacked. No arrests have yet been made.
